How to prepare — strict preparation required

• Strict fasting: do not eat or drink anything (except plain water) for at least 6 hours before your scan. Consuming food increases blood flow to the liver, which can artificially raise stiffness readings.
• Alcohol: strictly avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the scan.
• Medications: take your daily medications as normal, with a small sip of water.
